Russian Post, together with Hongkong Post, in partnership with Cainiao Logistics Company (part of the Alibaba holding), introduced a new product SRM (Simplified Registered Mail - simple registered package). The new type of shipments was launched to replace unregistered small packages and combines the convenience of a postal channel and the transparency of express delivery.
The new product allows consumers to track their orders from the AliExpress marketplace in three main statuses, which enable the recipient to see the actual date of dispatch of his order, as well as the date of arrival at the post office in Russia. The sender, in addition to these statuses, has the ability to track the fact of receipt of the goods by the buyer, which is a condition for him to receive money for the sent order.
“The current delivery time for registered traffic and SRM service is 6-10 days from Hong Kong, from the moment the order is placed at the post office. At the same time, the SRM service will provide transparent delivery, which is necessary for both the recipient and the sender, ”emphasizes Sergei Malyshev, Deputy General Director of the Russian Post for parcel business and express delivery.
The new product is available for the delivery of purchases from the AliExpress marketplace with a small average check ($ 2 and more), which were previously often sent as unregistered shipments. Neither online stores, nor postal administrations, nor customers were able to track such shipments along the way.
“In most cases, such items were sent by sea or by land through transit intermediary countries, which negatively affected delivery times, and also significantly increased the risk of loss or damage to items. The launch of the new SRM product is intended to ensure the reliability of delivery and a significant reduction in the share of untraceable shipments, ”notes Alex Vasiliev, Regional Director of Cainiao (Alibaba Group) in Russia and the CIS.

On November 27, the parcel was exported from Latvia. On the territory of the Russian Federation, such parcels are not tracked.
The Russian Post issues only statuses for them on arrival at the addressee's post office and on delivery.
