Early years. A family
Suleiman Kerimov was born in Derbent - Dagestan city with a centuries-old history located on the Caspian coast. He became the third and youngest child in the family.His father, Abusid Kerimovich, was a lawyer, served in the Dagestan criminal wanted list, his mother worked in Sbercasse an accountant. Suleiman graduated from the usual Soviet school, like his older brother and sister. According to teachers and classmates, Kerimov adored mathematics and, unlike many schoolchildren, not only well studied, but also paid a lot of time and effort. The speed of the reaction, the dexterity and speed of Suleiman developed in training on judo, and strength and endurance - in training with weights. Moreover, it was not momentous hobbies - later, at the Institute, Kerimov became the CMC on judo, and in the army won the championship of the division in the Gurea Sport.
Kerimov graduated from school in 1983, receiving a certificate with honors. Successes in the exact sciences helped him successfully pass the exams in the Dagestan Polytechnic Institute and entered the Faculty of Construction Faculty. In those years, students of the day branch did not have a delay from the army, so in 1984, Suleiman went to serve in the RVSN troops. Kerimov's decisiveness and responsibility were not marked by commanders, and he successfully completed the service in 1986 in the rank of senior sergeant.
Upon returning from the military service, Suleiman was transferred from Polytechnic to Dagestan State University, replacing the construction faculty to economic. Symbols responded about him as an intelligent, charming and responsible person. Responsibility and ability to find a common language of Kerimov developed in public work, in particular, as deputy chairmen of the university trade union committee.
Career and First Capital
At the end of the University, Suleiman Kerimov was adopted as an economist at the Eltiv plant in Makhachkala, one of the largest in Dagestan. For six years, Kerimov's career walked to the mountain: from the ordinary economist, he passed the way to the assistant general director. 
After the collapse of the USSR, the Eltiv plant became one of the co-founders of the Federal Industrial Bank. The bank was necessary for the interaction of production with related enterprises and consumers who were in different countries. To represent the interests of the plant in the bank and became Kerimov, over time, having moved to the capital finally.
The time, as well as people who earned the first capital, can be estimated in different ways. But regardless of personal addictions and political beliefs, everyone who knew the then Suleyman Kerimov, noted his attentiveness to detail, a lightning reaction and the ability to take nontrivial solutions.
Nafta Moscow
By 1999, Kerimov acquired and brought to 100% his stake in Nafta Moscow, the Russian oil trader. From this point on, the process of reorganization of the company in a full-fledged investment holding has begun.According to some of the counterparties, Business Suleiman Abusidovich led quite rigidly. But in business, as in politics, the players are assessed by the only criterion - by the result. And with this, Kerimov had no problems. For the minimum term, his company Nafta Moscow broke into the top three leaders of the mergers and acquisitions market, taking an honorable place on a par with "RUSAL" Oleg Deripaska and Millhouse Roman Abramovich, who later began to cooperate. Such a neighborhood shows an indisputable result, and only profitability indicators can be objective. With them, Kerimov is also all right - according to some transactions, the indicators reached 600%.
Kerimov understood that in the oil and gas industry, you can earn huge amounts of money. For the period from 2002 to 2008, the interests of Nafta Moscow concerned the acquisition of shares of various domestic enterprises. Representatives and leaders of these companies responded about Kerimov as a chain man and always reaching the goal. At the same time, many marked his Eastern charm and a pronounced charisma of a born leader.
Since 2006, the interests of the structures of Suleiman Kerimov were reoriented to Western markets and work with foreign securities. By analogy with the financial participation of Sberbank and VTB in domestic projects, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse were brought abroad to cooperate. At that time, starting to buy stocks of Western companies (including British Petroleum, Volvo, etc.), Kerimov personally acquainted with the directors of leading investment banks and the largest companies, in particular, with the founder of Microsoft Bill Gates.
The 2008 global economic crisis, according to different experts, cost Kerimov at $ 20 billion. Someone binds it with erroneous planning, someone - with excessive excitement. But regardless of the attitude towards what happened, everything converge on the fact that huge losses did not beat Kerimov from the rut, in full compliance with the postulate of Nietzsche - "what does not kill us - makes us stronger."
In the portfolio of Kerimov at different times, the shares of various companies appeared, from monopolists, such as Gazprom, Sberbank, Rosneft and Uralkali, to less well-known, such as "Varieganneftegaz", Polymetal, MOSTELEKOM, MERCADO and others.
Polyus Gold
Shares of Polyus Gold, the largest producer of gold in Russia, Kerimov acquired in 2009. By 2012, the company published on the IPO at the London Exchange (LSE), and in 2015 the structure of Kerimov consolidated the rights to 95% of the company's shares, conducting shares in minority. In April 2016, Kerimov introduced two older children to the board of the company "Polyus Gold". 
The role of Kerimov in charity
In 2013, the businessman conveyed all its assets in managing the Suleyman Kerimov Foundation established by them, which interacts very tightly with the largest Russian and international charitable organizations. 
The Foundation has existed since 2007 and implements humanitarian, educational and cultural projects not only in Russia, but also in many other countries - Armenia, Belgium, China, Germany, Greece, Israel. The most impressive amounts are invested in Dagestan.
Since 2006, Suleiman Kerimov contributes to the development of free struggle in Russia. His charity foundation, together with the Federation of Wrestling of Russia and the Sports Fund "New Perspective", finances the National Program for the Development of the Free and Greco-Roman Wrestling "Burn and defeat". 
Before the election by the representative of the Federation, the Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation IV convocation, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs.
